Top Ten Tuesday: Suggestions For Santa

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is ten books I wish Santa would bring me. I have around 500 books on my wishlist, so instead of picking a random 10, I thought I’d give Santa suggestions for the types of books I like.

I’d be so grateful if Santa brought me

Books that make normal people wonder if I am a secret serial killer

Books meant for innocent children

Books with illustrations (sometimes I’m too lazy for this reading thing, okay? Don’t judge.)

Books about our barbed-wire-filled dystopian future

Books about our bleak dystopian present

Books about our hate-fueled dystopian past

All the sequels I . . . um . . . forgot . . . to read this year

Books that look so winterish they may be lost forever if I drop them in the snow

All those things I should have learned in school

Something I can wear around my neck that answers the question “Why do you have so many unread books?”

From MoonAndBranch

Have you read any of these? What did you think? What do you want Santa to bring you?

  1. Bear Town is one on my list. I also want to start the Dark Duet series at some point. Hope Santa brings some of these :)

  2. I read Sleeping Giants, but not Waking Gods.

I read Mythology, by Edith Hamilton, which seems similar to the Greek / Roman myths one.

There's a movie version of The Snowman. I've only seen the previews though.

  3. Great list! I love how you've set it out. Hope you get some, if not all of them. Merry Christmas!

  4. I love your list. I have to say, Severed sounds really interesting. And myths are always awesome, especially those editions of them that look simply stunning. The only book I've read is Our Dark Duet. I really want to read Franklin's Flying Bookshop, too! I've been seeing it around and it just looks so cute. I hope you get at least some of these!

  6. Severed oh my gosh that cracks me up. Fantastic Beasts looks fun, because imaginary creatures. And Celtic Myths- I feel like I could know a LOT more about those, especially since they show up in urban fantasy or high fantasy every so often. Nice list. Go Santa!!!

  7. As much as I love greek and roman mythology, egyptian myths are QUITE crazy! I couldn't really finish them, felt a little bit disturbed...

  9. I see SO MANY beautiful things on this list! I would honestly die to get any of these for Christmas! I saw the Fantastic Beasts illustrated book at my local bookstore the other day and browsed through it. It was so beautiful! But I still would prefer to get the other illustrated books in the Harry Potter series. A History of Magic looked gorgeous too. I just LOVE Jim Kay’s style and how intricate they are. It was just the new addition we needed to the Harry Potter fandom! It certainly enhances the experience, and it is so worth it.

  11. Hahaha! Yours is easily the most delightful list I've read today :) And I am happy to apply internet peer-pressure to keep reading the Game of Thrones books. I'm making my way through my second time reading the fourth one and they remain truly fantastic

  21. I love your "subcategories"! They definitely make me rethink a few books I've read that would go under a few of those. I adore that bookish necklace! May you get all the books you desire this holiday season! :)

  22. Haha your wish list is quite diverse! Well I mean there are a lot of dystopias...but sprinkled in with pretty kids books so I think it balances out.

  25. Great list! Love how you put them in categories! Hope you get them all.

  26. Those Thames and Hudson books look yummy. I'm actually hoping Santa doesn't bring me any books because I need to take a serious bite out of my TBR pile before I acquire any more. But I hope you get something you love!

  27. I love your list and the way you broke them up into groups. I almost put 'Bunk' on my list too but decided to save it for another TTT in the future. Some great titles here...hope Santa brings them to you, and a few of these to me also!

  28. I have so many books to add to my TBR list now! I also really love weird non-fiction at times so I'll be checking out The Buried Soul. I really hope you read Waking Gods soon! I definitely think you'll love it!

  29. I like how you put "books that make people think I'm a serial killer" right next to "books for innocent children" :) Made my laugh - great juxtaposition :)

  30. Hahaha, I love you categorized these books!!! Such a good list, I hope you get all of these.

Especially the books that will make normal people think you're a serial killer.

  31. I kind of forgot to read Our Dark Duet too. Luckily it's a duology, so no possibility we'll fall too behind. I'm very much intrigued by Severed and the other non-fiction books on your list. Hope you enjoy the holidays!

  32. I would love Santa to leave under my Christmas tree the illustrated edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them too.

    Happy readings! ;)

  33. Love the bookish necklace! I've bought a few of those over the years for giveaways :) Merry almost Christmas!

  34. Great suggestions. The bookish necklace is so pretty! And Franklin's Flying Bookshop looks so cute!

  35. I'd love the necklace - it's great! And the illustrated Fantastic Beasts; I need to put that on next year's wishlist. I'm also totally on board with those mythology books; I could use a refresher course, especially on Celtic myth.

  36. I like how the books that make other people think I'm a serial killer was closely followed by books for innocent children. Am I sensing some sort of disparity there? :P But I'm so with you on the sequels! I actually still have to read Our Dark Duet too!
