On The Blog Last Week

On The Blog This Week

  • On Monday I review The Serpent King by Jeff Zentner.
  • On Tuesday I show you all the books I’ve DNFed so far this year.
  • On Wednesday I review So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed by Jon Ronson.
  • On Thursday I wrap up August.

In My Reading Life

Last week, I read The Bombs that Brought Us Together by Brian Conaghan, Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl, and My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. Right now, I’m reading Company of Liars by Karen Maitland.

In The Rest Of My Life

Five things that made me happy last week:

  1. New Shades of Magic books?!
  2. Game of Thrones. Why do we have to wait so long for the next season? Patience is not one of my strengths.
  3. Ice cream.
  4. My grocery store already has its Halloween candy out. This is both exciting and dangerous.
  5. I achieved my goal of reading 12 books in August. If I can keep up that pace for another month, it’ll be really good for my TBR shelf. I swear the books breed when I’m not looking.

Take care of yourselves and be kind to each other! See you around the blogosphere!

  1. YAY for reaching your reading goal in August, AJ! That's always something to be celebrated. We don't have Halloween candy yet, but I know I have to stay far away from that once it starts.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  3. Our Walmart has Halloween candy out and they are getting the isles ready for costumes too. They try and rush everything. Ugh... Have a great week. :)

  6. Halloween candy already??!!!! Don't we need to at least finish summer first? It's supposed to be a heatwave where I am this week so autumn feels very far away. Not a fan of summer. I'm very frustrated that this season of GoT was so short and I've heard a rumour that the next season might be delayed until 2019?? What are they doing to us? Congrats on meeting your reading goal for the month - that is an amazing accomplishment! (I think I read like three.... so yeah, I've got a way to go!) Here's hoping you manage to keep up the pace now that apparently it's autumn where you are! My books breed even when I am looking. I've got about 7 boxes ready to get rid of, and still no shelf space. It may be a little bit of an issue. ;)

  8. I should go back and read Roald Dahl at some point, I loved his books as a kid and I could use a little whimsy.

Halloween candy... seems so weird (and early). I mean I love Halloween, but still...

So weird not having a GoT episode tonight... *scowls*

  11. Congratulations on making your monthly goal, that is always special, and so is ice cream (I cannot remember the last time I had some). TSK is a book that broke my heart, but still left me with some joy. I hope when I read your review, I will find you liked it.

  14. Here in the UK, some of the supermarkets already have their Christmas chocolate out, which just boggles my mind! I'm preparing to fatten up for the colder months :-P

Ooo.. I'm looking forward to seeing the books you've DNF'ed so far this year.

A lovely week to you, and happy reading!

  18. I've only seen through Season 5 on GOT. So it's okay for me to wait. I don't have HBO anyway.
Congrats on reading 12 books. I used to read that much, but I'm not getting much done lately.
    Have a great week!
